Before you hire anyone to build your website (including us)

Seven questions that expose a bad web deal in one phone call.

Use this on every web designer you talk to. Use it on us, we'll enjoy it.

The seven questions

1. What's the total first-year cost? Build plus hosting plus "extras." One number.
2. Who owns the domain and the site? The only right answer: you do.
3. Can I see it on a phone before launch? Not a mockup, the real thing.
4. Who writes the words? "You send us the text" means you're doing their job.
5. Who takes the photos? Stock photos are a red flag wearing a suit.
6. What happens when I need a change in month 7? Price and turnaround, specific.
7. What happens if we part ways? You should keep everything.

Red flags

Quotes that need three meetings. Contracts with no exit. "Trust me, it's technical." Anyone who gets offended by these questions.

Our answers

They're printed on our homepage: full price list, you own everything, real photos included, changes from $25 a month, cancel any time after the first year. If another agency answers this clearly, they're probably good people too.
